Nielsen ratings for the prime time address indicated about four-million fewer viewers than for his first address to Congress last year. Still, his latest address, which was carried by the major broadcast networks and the leading cable news channels, drew the biggest television audience for an official State of the Union speech since 2003. Some 62-million Americans watched then-President George W. Bush outline his agenda a couple of months prior to the U.S. led invasion of Iraq.
