(Los Angeles, CA)  —  Vampire dramas are leaving an impression on the viewing public, and the people will have their say on the matter on the first televised entertainment awards of the new year.  The vampire-driven vehicles “Twilight” and “True Blood” are among the top nominees for tonight’s People’s Choice Awards.  “Twilight” is up for five nominations, including favorite movie, favorite on-screen team and individual nominations for “Twilight” stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.  HBO’s “True Blood,” meantime, is leading the field among the television contenders with three nods, including favorite TV obsession, favorite sci-fi fantasy TV show and a nod for star Anna Paquin for favorite TV drama actress.

ABC’s recently-canceled supernatural series “Eastwick” is also among the People’s Choice nominees in the Favorite New TV Drama category along with ABC’s “FlashForward,” “The Forgotten,” and “V.”  Other nominees in the category include the CW’s “Vampire Diaries” and “Melrose Place,” NBC’s “Mercy,” and CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” “The Good Wife” and “Three Rivers.”

Up against “Twilight” in the Favorite movie category are “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” “Star Trek,” “The Hangover,” and “The Proposal.”  Nominees in the music categories include Eminem, Tim McGraw, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Lady Gaga and “Britain’s Got Talent” runnerup Susan Boyle.  Queen Latifah will host tonight’s awards  the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
