The supposed plan with Tracy McGrady(notes) for the Houston Rockets is to slowly increase his playing minutes and show him off to other teams in hopes of trading him before the deadline, according to CBSSports.

Somebody will want him. After all, he’s got a $23 million contract that expires at year’s end when most teams want as much salary space as possible in order to make room for all the big-name free agents out there.

The team is apparently hoping that it won’t take too long for another team to notice McGrady and make a trade for him.

“It doesn’t do them any good to have him playing eight minutes a game on that contract,” a source told CBSSports. “They’ll find somebody, and there are plenty of teams that are interested, in spite of the contract.”
