(Green Tree, PA) — A 44-year-old Pennsylvania man is trying to get his name legally changed to Boomer The Dog. Gary Guy Mathews of Green Tree likes to dress up at parties and conventions like a shaggy-haired canine from an NBC show, “Here’s Boomer,” which he watched as a teenager. Mathews earlier this year started the process to legally change his name, telling Judge Robert W. Folino this week at a hearing in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court his friends already call him that. The judge said he would decide in a few days, saying he may say “no” because it could cause quote, “confusion in the community.”
