Whoopi Goldberg is firing back at allegations that she struck “White House Gate Crasher” Michaele Salahi on Wednesday’s episode of “The View.” The actress and “View” co-host addressed the controversy on Thursday’s episode of the daytime talk show, saying she merely responded to Salahi’s accusations with “choice words.” Goldberg, who was initially backstage during Salahi’s interview with “View” co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Joy Behar, says she was moved to join the discussion when the “Real Housewives of Washington, D.C.” star strayed from the topic of her presence at the White House dinner that created a firestorm of controversy last year. She says she encouraged Salahi to move on by touching her arm, saying, quote, “Can you get back to the White House, please.” Whoopi says she later found out that the she had been accused of hitting the Bravo personality. That’s when she says she had some “choice words” for Salahi.

Goldberg adds that Salahi’s husband got into an argument with her and began snapping photos with his cell phone. She says she “had more choice words” for him that were, quote, “so choice you could cut them with a knife.” ABC released a statement saying the Wednesday broadcast of the show clearly shows Salahi’s accusation is “unfounded and erroneous.” Michaele Salahi is featured on Bravo’s new “Real Housewives Of DC” reality series which premiered last night.
