The wife of comedian and actor Charlie Murphy had died. MTV News reports that Tisha Taylor Murphy passed away in her sleep Sunday at the couple’s home in New Jersey. The 44-year-old had been in a long battle with cancer. Charlie Murphy’s publicist, Lyndsey Jacobs, tells MTV, quote, “Tisha Taylor Murphy, wife of comedian and actor Charlie Murphy, passed away peacefully on Sunday with family at her side after facing the challenges of cancer for the past two years.” Jacobs adds that the Murphy family appreciates everyone’s support, and, quote, “requests privacy during this very difficult time.” Charlie and Tisha Taylor Murphy tied the knot in 1997. The couple has two children together. Charlie Murphy also has a third child from a previous relationship.

Charlie Murphy, who is the older brother of comedian Eddie Murphy, has starred in the films “Harlem Nights,” “CB4,” and “Night at the Museum.” He also starred on Comedy Central’s hit series “Chappelle’s Show.”
