As a former student of P.V. and a guy who used to announce the band when we didn’t even have a football team, I thought I would never see the day when the Panthers had a winning record let alone win the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship.
But P.V. defeated Alabama A&M 30-24 at Legion Field in Birmingham, AL for the school’s first conference title since 1964. Panther quarterback K.J. Black lead the way throwing 3 touchdown’s, and was voted the game’s Offensive Most Valuable Player, while alson completing 18 of 28 passes for 258 yards.
“It was a great football game, a championship football game that came down to a few plays to make the difference,” Prairie View coach Henry Frazier III said. “We made them.”
On behalf of all P.V. former and current students I would like to personally thank coach Frazier for bringing a winning team and a SWAC championship back to “The Yard”.
