Barbara Walters is declaring the nation’s First Lady, Michelle Obama, the “Most Fascinating” person of 2009.  In her Wednesday night ABC primetime special, the veteran newswoman interviewed some of the year’s biggest headline makers in a top ten countdown that placed Mrs. Obama at number one.  In her interview with Walters, the First Lady talked about everything from her initiatives to getting the nation’s children active with exercise, to her own exercise regimen that keeps her sculpted arms in great shape.  Mrs. Obama also copped to enjoying “mindless” television that includes shows dealing with food and design during what she called her “lazy days.”

Walters’ list of the “Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009” also included former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who also made the list in 2008, filmmaker Tyler Perry, controversial talk show host Glenn Beck, NFL quarterback Brett Favre, reality TV mom Kate Gosselin, “American Idol” runnerup Adam Lambert, pop star Lady GaGa, Jenny Sanford  — the estranged wife of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford  —  and Michael Jackson’s kids.
