Jimbo started career in radio as a “researcher” in November of 1988 at the popular oldies station 98 FM KFMK (97.9 on your dial). Twenty-one years later, he’s still on 97.9 on your radio dial. Even thought the station changed in 1991 to 97.9 the Box, one of the most successful and influential hip-hop stations in the country, Jimbo remained and has thrived through four different morning shows as the producer/co-host/goofy guy who does parodies and characters. He currently is a part of the highly successful Madd Hatta Morning Show right here on the Box airing from 5am to 10am. Tonight at Bohemeo’s, 708 Telephone Road, he’ll celebrate his twenty-one years in radio with a collection of greatest hits available to the public for one night only.   And, becuase of the bad weather, for those who cannot make it, a second show has been at the same venue on January 8th!

Spanning from 1991 to 2009, thirty-two Jimbo radio classics (prank calls, song parodies and bits) will be included as free bonus tracks on the Jimbo-formed suburban rap group, the Atascocita Thugs, first CD release “The United States of Atascocita.” Started in 2003, The Atascocita Thugs include key members Slo Poke and Sugar Daddy who met at the Wal-Mart super center on FM 1960 East. They were both fighting over the last bag of Scott’s Weed and Feed. Noticing both had an appreciation for a fertile lawn, the two discussed their other hobbies: swimming, golf, boating and they eventually got to two of their faves; hip hop and profanity. Their radio hits “Blame It On Hip Hop,” “Pull Em Up,” and “Thugsgiving” will be featured on “The United States of Atascocita.”

Also, on the same night, Jim will reunite with his late 80’s/early 90’s band The Surrealtors to perform and celebrate the CD/Itunes release of “Hot Shode: The Best of the Surrealtors.” And finally, Jim will also release his first solo CD (of music) “Walupoo.” First thought of in 1989 in a University of Houston computer lab, “Walupoo” was one of the nonsense words yelled out by Jerry Lewis as he underwent a surgery with no anesthetic in 1982 movie “Cracking Up.” And, that was album’s goal, to make the songs uninfluenced and pure, thus, no anesthetic. Produced over the last ten years, “Walupoo” features local music legends LL Cooper and drummer Mando Perez. CD standouts include “Sister Heroin,” “Make Believe,” “Fire Up Ol Sparky” and “The Inside.” “Walupoo,” will be released under the name “Jimbeazy.” Why Jimbeazy? There is only one “Jimbeazy” on Google and Yahoo search.

Despite the weather, Tonight at Bohemeo’s (708 Telephone Road, (713) 923-4277) will be a great night with the Atascocita Thugs, the Surrealtors, and acoustic-soul act Grassnova scheduled to perform and to also have music available for purchase.
