Over the past week I’ve been at several events with Houston sports fans; the Fit Family Expo, an Easter egg hunt at MacGregor park and a birthday party in the medical center. One thing I noticed is it seemed like their was more talk about who the Houston Texans should take with the first pick […]

Bob Levey/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Houston Rockets All-Star center Dwight Howard isn't concerned that his sore left ankle will be a factor headed into the playoffs. Howard received a second shot in his ankle that has kept him out five of the last seven games. "There was more fluid in there the next time I saw the doctor," Howard told the Houston Chronicle on Tuesday. "It was best I get the fluid out and just rest. I’m not worried." Howard's soreness in the ankle returned last Thursday against the 76ers. "The main thing is that I am able to run and be who I am without any concerns," Howard told the Chronicle. "For a while I (felt good) in both games, but after a while it started hurting again so I couldn’t do all the things I wanted to do. It (playing in those games) wasn’t smart." "There is no need for me to rush and re-injure myself. I tried (to rush) last week. It didn’t work out too well for me. I don’t think it’s smart. The biggest thing I can be concerned with is the playoffs," he continued. Howard is averaging 18.5 points per game and 12.3 rebounds. Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Jed Jacobson/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- With the playoffs just around the corner in the NBA, the Houston Rockets could be without point guard Patrick Beverley anywhere from 10 days to four weeks as he recovers from a torn meniscus in his right knee. Beverley suffered the injury during the team's win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday. He will be reevaluated to see the extent of the injury. "I feel pretty good," Beverley told the Houston Chronicle. "I feel like I knocked knees with somebody." "It hurt a lot the first day. I didn't really feel a lot of pain today, which is a good sign. No swelling," he contined. "So I'm going to see the best knee doctor in the country. I spoke to him on the phone. He has seen it. It looks really good. We'll see how long it lasts. It may be 10 to 14 days, maybe four weeks. He just has to get his hand on it and see how it is." In his first season as the team's full-time point guard, Beverley was averaging 9.9 points and 2.7 assists per game for the Rockets. Jeremy Lin is expected to take over for Beverley as he recovers. We all know Texas A&M QB and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel will be among the first players drafted this May by a quarterback needy NFL team. But it seems as if Johnny Football wants to show he is equally capable of being a high-flying guard in the NBA. (Rockets anyone?) Check out Johnny showcasing […]

It is not a secret that Dwight Howard’s stint with the Los Angeles Lakers wasn’t the most enjoyable for either party. Now that the All-Star center is comfortably posting up with the Houston Rockets with a 23-13 record, it was only a matter of time before the bad blood started to simmer in the pressure […]
