G-Man and The Chile

G-Man:

Born and raised in Houston G-man began his love for music while at a young age and continued as he became the local DJ for parties while attending Pasadena and Milby High.

In 2002 his radio dream job came true when he became the afternoon jock on 97.9 The Box!

Since then it has been a wild ride while being joined by trusty sidekick and crash test dummy “The Chile” in 2007.

You can catch G-man and The Chile at every Texans home game and supporting all of Houston sports teams.

Listen Monday-Friday 3-7p cause “You Never Know What’s Gonna Happen”

Chile:

A Texan Native, The Chile, was brought into radio in 2004. Realizing the ability to make people laugh with or without clothes, he acknowledged his desire to entertain all the poor Houstians coup up in their office cubicles. The Chile came aboard The Box team in 2007 by campaigning G-Man’s afternoon show by calling asking him for a job. Being persistent, when told that they were not hiring, he continued to call G-Man, taking his campaign to a higher level and went to the streets. Rallying in the streets with the people, The Chile utilized what he could, using signs and encouraging people to call G-Man to hire him. The Chile shows strong support for the Houston Texans and all of Houston sports teams. He professes his love and support for all Houston local boxers and the sport itself. He has shown a new interest and likings for MMA fights.

Qui West

Wasup!! its your homie Qui West  partying with you MON-FRI from 7p-12a ..sooooo .wooow where to begin??!! I’m the type of person comfortable in all arenas of life, not too urban and not too pop but a fine balance of both worlds! Radio as truly been an amazing experience! I was born and raised in the San Francisco/Bay Area, CA yaaaay arrrreaa! lol…I began my radio journey at 19 years old in 2006 as an intern for kyld Wild 94.9, where I learned the value of listener interaction , while at the same time was able to develop a personality of my own going out to ALL events in the Bay, working for only college credit, it felt like I literally lived at the station, working 3 shifts a day, and at times putting 40+ hour weeks unpaid, Its safe to say I really truly loved the streets lol…In 2007 was named Bay Area S.T.A.R. Clear Channel Intern of the Year. In 2008, after graduating college, was given my first official job as CC Public Affairs Host and Producer also was the board op for all company stations in the market, BUT! To be honest my desire from day one was always to be on the station I grew up listening to as a kid! Fortunately, in 2009 was finally given that great opportunity as a weekend on air personality for kyld, the youngest personality in market 4 at the time, and well now in 2010 only 4 years later, im truly blessed to be rocking the nightshift Mon-Friday 7p-12a at the legendary 97.9 The Box in this incredible city of Houston! Hit me up anytime! My show is your show!! Thank you to everyone who’s loved and supported me throughout this awesome adventure…trust me this is only the beginning!

GT

G.T.  known by most as one of Houston’s hottest DJ, both on and off the air and is increasing becoming known for his innovative unheard of lyrics on the mic. With G.T. abbreviated for gifted and talented, his story is like none other and is considered one of a kind.

As a true lover of hip hop music, G.T. was drawn to the mic at an early age, “I was always a rapper…I DJ to support my rap career,” says GT, clearing all preconceived notions.

During his college years at Texas Southern University, he linked up with future friend and business partner DJ Steve Nice. With limited funds to support his music career, GT decided to take a shot at radio to pay for his first album expenses, which featured the hit song “Our House.”

In 1999, GT founded Key Players Entertainment to pursue his career as an artist while holding it down at 97.9 The Box creating a name for himself in radio as the ‘only DJ that gives a jam.’

Continuously holding his own as a recognized DJ in the south and nominated consecutively for the Mix Show Power Summit’s “Dirty South DJ of the Year” Award, GT released his first single ‘You Don’t Want To,’ from his solo album “HTX.” The song swept urban night clubs away by storm and became Texans first hip hop anthem.

G.T. is set to release his new highly anticipated album this fall. He plans on making more waves than radio imagined with the love and support from the public and the industry alone. G.T. a.k.a the renaissance man of hip hop is consistently lyrically versatile and talented both on the mic and the serato.

G.T. is a proud member of the 2009 Black Entertainment Television Awards.
