Well it’s been 8 years since the beautifully talented singer Brooke Valentine dropped the Billboard Top 100 hit “Girlfight” and now she is back – with a brand new single appropriately titled, “Forever”. TheBoxHouston.com got a chance to speak with Brooke to catch up and let you check out the new single!!
So where has Brooke Valentine been???
When we asked Brooke where in the world she’s been, she actually shared more with us than we expected!
Diving into the music scene promoting her single “Girlfight” in 2005, Brooke released her first album Chain Letter under Virgin Records, which ignited multiple performances, tv appearances, magazine spreads, international shows, hosting opportunities and all that stardom could bring. Then tragedy struck Brooke with the death of a family member.
When I found out my cousin was murdered, gunned down, it messed me up. I had been traveling so much and so far off into my music career, that I felt so disconnected from what really mattered….I just realized that I really wanted to take a break and be with family for awhile.
While on hiatus Brooke spent time in “the H” to reconnect and build stronger relationships with those she cherished the most. With a new sense of self, this inspired her to get back in the studio to begin prepping her next album Physical Education. During the process of recording, writing and collaborating with producers, Brooke found out her life was about to change again with the news that she was expecting her first child.
When I found out I was pregnant, I was immediately put on bedrest…and this slowed me down alot! It was so hard for me because I love my craft, but because of my pregnancy complications, I took time to focus on having a healthy pregnancy and delivery.
Her son was born right after Thanksgiving but at the time of birth Brooke noticed that he wasn’t crying at all after doctors examined him.
That was very scary! We noticed that he wasn’t breathing and found out the he had a stroke at birth…Everything was really real at that point, dealing with life and death issues…nothing else mattered to me but the health of my son. So just to have him alive with me today, healthy and blessed, I thank God that I was blessed enough that I could focus on priorities, be a mother and enjoy spending time with my child. I remember being in church, praying and thanking God for my life and for my son…life is so important….he actually inspired me to write this single, “Forever”.
Excited about her new single, Brooke said “Forever” was written straight from her heart. She also penned the lyrics with creative collaboration from her producer Deja.
This song is truly straight from my heart, this is all of me now. The time is now, my fans have been anxiously waiting, still hitting me up asking for another project and that means a lot, because it’s been a while. But I am really excited! I have seen it all you know, and although I never gave up on music and stayed writing and in the studio, I fell out of love with the music industry and fell back in love with life. So this next album will definitely have substance and make an emotional connection.
So this means no more “GirlFight”-ing for Brooke aka B. Valentine!!! Her latest single “FOREVER” will blaze the airwaves like she never left. She has upcoming appearances on 106th and Park and may be pushing up the release of her album due to the recent leak.
