If you wanna request me to DJ your parties, email me at djeque979@gmail.com!

You’re too pretty to be a “DJ” said the infamous Luther Campbell a.k.a Uncle Luke upon meeting the world renowned DJ Eque at a video shoot. But after hearing her play just one time, he instantly signed her up as his official tour DJ! Eque is still trying to figure out exactly what looks and DJ skills have in common but it isn’t rare for the hazel eyed beauty to get this type of response. Often times when she shows up at a club to spin, she is quickly mistaken for a dancer, waitress, party girl, anything but the one who will work the turntables and keep the dance floor jumpin all nite long!

It has been her focused skills not her looks that have kept this DJ in the game for nearly 10 years rocking parties, concert tours and television appearances in some of the hottest spots around the world including Italy, Switzerland, Canada, and Germany! DJ Eque has also e! lectrified the stages as tour DJ for national and international tours of Beyonce, Usher, Faith Evans, B2K, Erick Sermon, Keith Murray and Redman.

The Texas bred DJ began her adventure with music while attending Texas Southern University on a basketball scholarship. At Eque’s request, a friend taught her the basics of DJ ing and she got so into it that she would show up at his house everyday to practice. She eventually bought her own equipment and started her now very extensive record collection. From there she honed her skills and began doing local radio and parties with the late DJ Screw, a legend of the Houston hip hop scene. When the opportunity came to join a new female rap group presented it self, DJ Eque loaded up her records into her brother’s car and headed west to the City of Angels.

While in LA, DJ Eque linked up with two other ladies who shared her passion for music, the Poetess a LA based MC and poet and Dr. Dre protege, The Lady of Rage to form the G Spot, a top rated radio show on 100.3 The Beat. She continued at The Beat as DJ for Cypress Hill’s “Soul Assassin Show”. Eque soon became a staple in the LA hip hop scene and began expanding her notoriety with appearances in music videos, national commercials and TV shows such as Martin, David Letterman, Carson Daly Show, as well as co-hosting segments of BET’s Rap City and NBC’s Weekend Vibe. It is DJ Eque who sparks up the party scene in 50 Cent’s break out video, Wanksta.

“These days there are so many “model DJ’s” girls with a pretty face who buy two turntables and a few hits and want to call themselves a DJ. I take this music so serious. Records and parties have become an art form to me. I study the crowd’s reaction to certain sounds and constantly think about new ways to mix songs, rhythms and beats” says the turntable darling who is featured in an upcoming film MistressX, a documentary exploring the world of female DJ’s. DJ Eque’s skills have not gone unnoticed garnering her a long client list including major corporations and industry heavyweights such as GQ, Nike, Virgin Records, P. Diddy, R. Kelly, Stevie Wonder, Macy Gray, Shaquille O’Neal, Mariah Carey and Eve.

DJ Eque’s last venture on TV was DJ and co-host of BET’s Comic View. She also dee jayed on tour this summer on the Sugarwater Tour with Floetry, Jill Scott, Erkah Badu and Queen Latifah. DJ Eque is currently performing with Missy Elliot with shows in South Africa, Monte Carlo and New York. She also is currently perfecting her music production talents and can be found behind the turntables at the hottest parties in the land.

You can catch DJ Eque mixing on air Friday’s from 9pm-12midnight.

Follow her on Twitter.com/djeque and check out www.djeque.com

Wasup!! its your homie Qui West partying with you MON-FRI from 7p-12a ..sooooo .wooow where to begin??!! I’m the type of person comfortable in all arenas of life, not too urban and not too pop but a fine balance of both worlds! Radio as truly been an amazing experience! I was born and raised in the San Francisco/Bay Area, CA yaaaay arrrreaa! lol…I began my radio journey at 19 years old in 2006 as an intern for kyld Wild 94.9, where I learned the value of listener interaction , while at the same time was able to develop a personality of my own going out to ALL events in the Bay, working for only college credit, it felt like I literally lived at the station, working 3 shifts a day, and at times putting 40+ hour weeks unpaid, Its safe to say I really truly loved the streets lol…In 2007 was named Bay Area S.T.A.R. Clear Channel Intern of the Year. In 2008, after graduating college, was given my first official job as CC Public Affairs Host and Producer also was the board op for all company stations in the market, BUT! To be honest my desire from day one was always to be on the station I grew up listening to as a kid! Fortunately, in 2009 was finally given that great opportunity as a weekend on air personality for kyld, the youngest personality in market 4 at the time, and well now in 2010 only 4 years later, im truly blessed to be rocking the nightshift Mon-Friday 7p-12a at the legendary 97.9 The Box in this incredible city of Houston! Hit me up anytime! My show is your show!! Thank you to everyone who’s loved and supported me throughout this awesome adventure…trust me this is only the beginning!

Realizing the ability to make people laugh with or without clothes, he acknowledged his desire to entertain all the poor Houstians coup up in their office cubicles. The Chile came aboard The Box team in 2007 by campaigning G-Man’s afternoon show by calling asking him for a job. Being persistent, when told that they were not hiring, he continued to call G-Man, taking his campaign to a higher level and went to the streets. Rallying in the streets with the people, The Chile utilized what he could, using signs and encouraging people to call G-Man to hire him. The Chile shows strong support for the Houston Texans and all of Houston sports teams. He professes his love and support for all Houston local boxers and the sport itself. He has shown a new interest and likings for MMA fights.

The second part is the Grey Tape Mix from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. This part mainly consists of old school H-Town underground hits. The last part is called Straight To The Room. This part consists of the hottest love R&B songs. This part is from 11:00 to 1:00 a.m. There is much more to my career than this, but I have to keep it brief as possible for this website.
