Fat Pat aka Patrick Lamark Hawkins was born on December 4, 1970 and was killed February 3, 1998. Fat Pat was also in the group, DEA (Dead End Alliance). He was also in the group with his brother John "Big Hawk" Hawkins and DJ Screw. All whom have passed. De La Soul Talks Next Album, Video Games & The Fate of ‘AOI:3′ [Video]

Pos of De La Soul speaks with HipHopSite.Com and touches upon De La’s next LP, which may be called You’re Welcome, as well as other projects in the mix. They also speak on the fate of Art Official Intelligence Part 3, as Pos pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for the long overdue project.

As previously reported, Pos and Dave are also working on a project under the moniker of ‘First Serve.’ Minus Maceo on the 1′s and 2′s, the lyrical dynamic of De La Soul are calling themselves Jacob “Pop Life” Barrow and Deen “D” Whittier on the side project.

Ice-T Directed ‘Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap’ Debuting At Sundance [Video]

A new documentary co-directed by Ice-T called Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap will be screening at this weekend’s annual Sundance Film Festival. Billboard interviewedthe veteran rapper/actor about the film, which delves into the artistry behind writing rhymes.

“I was looking at the terrain of hip-hop and where it’s going,” Ice Cube told Billboard. “A lot of the kids don’t even know where it started, and I said, ‘I wanna go and document the craft–not the money, not the cars, not the girls, the craft.’”

Introducing Pitbull’s New Protégé, Sensato

There’s a new Latino lyricist emerging in music – and he comes with already-lengthy credentials.

Dominican urban artist Sensato (bornWilliam Reyna) is best known for his wild success with“Watagatapitusberry,” an infectious (and somewhat nonsensical) song that blazed through the radio two years ago. The song’s popularity skyrocketed so that Lil Jon and Cuban American rapperPitbull joined in on its official remix.

This fall, the 27-year-old teamed up with Mr. Worldwide for a club-ready record titled “Latinos in Paris,” which saw its music video premiere this past weekend. Sensato’s music cred continues to grow; he also has a new single out titled “Crazy People,” which also features Pitbull and Spanish DJ/producer Sak Noel.
