“BEST IN TEXAS” SHOWCASE AT SXSW 2010

PAUL WALL AND CHAMILLIONAIRE TO HEADLINE AS THE KICK-OFF TO THEIR NATIONAL “IN LOVE WITH MY MONEY” TOUR

Austin, TX – Two driving forces in Hip Hop, those of OGPR and AllHipHop.com, have joined together for this years SXSW festival to bring you the “Best in Texas” showcase at La Zona Rosa on Wednesday, March 17th. Headliners for the showcase are Paul Wall and Chamillionaire as they kick off their national “In Love With My Money” tour. The tour currently runs through mid-April, with more dates being added. Tour information can be found at Chamillionaire.com. Both artists have albums dropping this Summer.

The rest of the line-up for “Best In Texas” is comprised of acts representing various regions of the Lone Star State with performances by Chalie Boy, who hails from the Calvert/Hearne region and came to national attention via the hit single, “I Look Good” and Dallas artists Dorrough, who made a big splash with his single, “Ice Cream Paint Job” and Fat Pimp. Austin’s League of Extraordinary Gz, Kyle Lee and Question? for San Antonio and Big Sid repping San Angelo round out the night’s event. Swisha House’s Michael “5000” Watts will provide the hosting duties with DJ’s Grip and Hella Yella spinning between sets.

A staple in the industry, OGPR has provided public relations services to a host of Hip Hop artists over the past 10 years, representing names both regional and national including Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, DJ Whoo Kid, Pimp C, Slim Thug, Yo Gotti, Bobby Valentino and 3-6 Mafia. AllHipHop has pioneered the way that Hip Hop music and culture was represented online for the past 11 plus years and remains the go-to web destination for Hip Hop news and entertainment content. Having worked together closely over the years, it just made sense for the two companies to collaborate for one of music’s biggest annual showcase events – SXSW, and help Paul and Chamillionaire kick off their tour with a bang.

When I heard that Chamillionaire and Paul Wall were reuniting again on stage at SXSW I knew this was a marquee event that AllHipHop.com had to be a part of, this is history. AllHipHop’s Steve Raze had to say of the upcoming show.

I remember performing at my first SXSW and not really even speaking to Paul, and now in 2010 we will be touring together and sharing the same SXSW stage. Remembers Platinum, Grammy-winning artist, Chamillionaire. I’m sure our collective fans would be proud to see how far we have come and excited to see us together again live.

• Make sure you have plenty of storage in the bathroom. Use kitchen canisters or wall-mounted racks to store cotton balls, Q-tips, and bathroom supplies, and use wall hooks to hang towels.

• Spring for new accessories. You could try new towels, shower curtain, bathmat, mirror, or wastebasket.

Well we’ve seen this before. DMX went to court yesterday after getting arrested yesterday morning for who knows what for the umpteenth time. He was smart enough to wait till the judge left the room before he randomly started wilin’ out at folks:

“I’m the only one got arrested today … f**king c**ksuckers do it every time man … I get my rights violated but I gotta be quiet about it … f**king b*tch man.”

PHOENIX – Authorities in Arizona say rapper DMX has been arrested for allegedly violating his probation by using drugs.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had served about half of his 18-month supervised probation when he was booked Tuesday night into the downtown Phoenix jail. The rapper was released from jail in May after serving a 90-day sentence for felony convictions including cruelty to animals, theft and two drug counts.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his deputies have arrested Simmons five times now, including an August 2007 raid on the rapper’s north Phoenix home where they found 12 neglected dogs, three buried dogs, drugs and a cache of weapons.

Simmons pleaded guilty in late December to cruelty to animals, theft and two drug counts. In 2008, Simmons was arrested for speeding on a Phoenix freeway and allegedly going to a Scottsdale clinic and giving a false name to receive care with the intent of not paying.

The rapper is currently being held on no bond — he’ll be back in court March 16.

On Tuesday, MTV Jams will be playing videos by B.I.G. and a slew of other fallen musical soldiers, such as Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Aaliyah, Big Pun, the Lost Boyz and their deceased member Freaky Tah and Camoflauge. This week’s “Sucker Free Sunday” on MTV2 is running a special tribute to Biggie, hosted by Diddy.

As most have come to know to dial 911 in case of emergency, a call from a traumatized young girl, while her mother lay wounded was in vain as the operator didn’t seem to stress the urgency of the situation or cater to the girl’s circumstances.

With her mom dying in the basement from a gunshot wound, her 8-year-old daughter attempted to call for help when she dialed 911.

In an attempt to send help, the operator tried to have the distraught child locate any type of address so that she knew where to send needed aid.

Asking to speak with her mother, the girl replied:

“No, she’s…she’s almost dead. MOMMY!!! I’ve got the police on the phone…MOMMY, tell me, I’ve got the police on the phone…come here,” yelled the frantic girl.

With the operator becoming increasingly frustrated with the child, she finally came to realize that the girl’s mother had been shot and the only people there, unharmed, was the child and her 6-year-old sister.

It was not until four minutes into the call until the operator stated that she was sending help and learned that there was a double shooting as the mother’s boyfriend had also been shot and had already died.

Probably shocked at the discovery of the shootings, the operator then disconnected from the call and left the girl on the phone alone.

Authorities are now investigating the dispatcher as authorities are stating that they weren’t too comfortable with the demeanor of the dispatcher and adding that there wasn’t enough emphasis placed on getting an emergency vehicle there as soon as possible.

Reports add that the call was made from a cell phone which made it harder to track the exact location, whereas a landline would have made it easier to find the address.

The call was made shortly after two men opened fire inside the home, according to Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans. Derrick Smith, 42, and another suspect are responsible for the murder of the girl’s mother, Monica Botello, and a man, Purcell Carson.

Further reports show that the girl and her little sister were in the house during the shooting, but they were not witness to it.

There is now a warrant for first-degree murder out for Smith. In 2007, he was released from prison after serving time for kidnapping and robbery charges.

The male victim, Carson, had served a bid for a drug offense and was in jail with Smith, which would show that the suspect had connections with the victim.

WASHINGTON – The gunman who shot two Pentagon police officers was heavily armed and spent weeks driving to the Capital area from the West Coast, authorities said Friday. Resentment of the U.S. government and suspicions over the 9/11 attacks have surfaced in writings by the Californian identified as the man fatally wounded in a hail of return fire.

John Patrick Bedell, 36, of Hollister, Calif., was identified as the shooter and authorities said he’d had previous run-ins with the law.

Investigators have found no immediate connection to terrorism, and the attack at the massive Defense Department headquarters appears to be a case of “a single individual who had issues,” Richard Keevill, chief of Pentagon police, said in an early morning press conference. Continue reading…

Soooo… I checked out “Brooklyn’s Finest” last night which I knew had a bunch of big names & the same director that did “Training Day”. Of course I would have high expectations! You’d be a fool not to with this line-up. The question is, does the film live up to the names? Yes & No.

Yes the acting is great (with the exception of one of the drug dealers whose acting was laughable) and yes the film quality is top-notch… but no I did not like how slow the film was to develop and no I did not like the ending. Should you spend your money on it? Yes.

The film does a good job in exposing the harsh reality of crooked cops in the NYPD and the battle between good and evil, right and wrong. The moral dilemmas faced in the film are very relatable especially Ethan Hawke’s character who is faced with having to take care of his family but does not make enough money. Therefore, he contemplates stealing drug money. The film shows us that every decision made has consequences, some good, some bad and some extreme.
I could have done without the Richard Gere sex scenes though… felt like I was watching my dad with a prostitute! (not a good feeling!) lol! Overall though, it was a good film executed well with good direction that you should definately see!

Griner was clearly frustrated after being subjected to Texas Tech’s physical defense throughout the game and by the hard foul by Jordan Barncastle, whom she subsequently punched in the face. What sort of disciplinary action should the former Nimitz HIgh star face?
