Actor, filmmaker, director and comedian Jon Favreau made his official announcement on Friday on his Twitter that he’s going to direct the remake of the 1994 movie.

The Lion King remake will be another live-action animated film like Jon Favreau did when he did the remake of “The Jungle Book,” another live-action film too.

They also announced that The Jungle Book will be getting a sequel that is called “The Second Jungle Book” and it is due to premiere in late 2018.
It’s good to hear that The Lion King remake will reprise James Earl Jones’ role as Mufasa and that they have brought on “Atlanta” and “Star Wars” star Donald Glover to play Simba.
In Favreau’s two tweets, he posted pictures of James Earl Jones and Donald Glover and saying:

“Looking forward to working with this legend.

“I just can’t wait to be king.
