“It Won’t Stop” singer Sevyn Streeter had her peaceful protest blocked by the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night because of a jersey she was wearing with the phrase “We Matter.” Social media was not happy with the organization after Sevyn posted about their decision in a short Twitter video.

The Sixers apparently learned their lesson and are now apologizing. In a statement released Friday, the team says Sevyn should not have been prevented from singing the anthem:

“We are sorry that this happened. After receiving feedback from our players, basketball operations staff and ownership group, we believe that the wrong decision was made, and Sevyn should have been welcomed to sing. We apologize to her, and in an effort to move the conversation forward, we have reached out to offer her an opportunity to return and perform at a game of her choice. We are waiting to hear back.” – 76ers

No word on if Sevyn accepts their apology. But who is the staffer who took it upon themselves to take a stand against her jersey?
