The 2016 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class is officially inducted following Friday’s ceremonies in Springfield, Massachusetts. Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson and Yao Ming highlighted the 10-member class as jokes were told and stories were shared on a day of celebration.
Iverson and Shaq stole the show, as Shaq made multiple jabs at former teammates including Kobe Bryant and Nick Anderson. Iverson showed much emotion as he detailed the ups and downs of his career. Yao Ming spoke on his early experiences in America and Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo reflected on his early coaching years and upbringing.
Former Hawks center Zelmo Beaty, three-time WNBA MVP Sheryl Swoopes, legendary coach John McLendon, dual-sport athlete Cumberland Posey, Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf, and referee Darell Garretson rounded out this year’s Hall of Fame class.
