The 2016 Inductees for the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame have been named and it’s no surprise that Selena Quintanilla-Perez is one of the inducted Texas Women for Arts.
The Governor’s Greg Abbott‘s office made a news release stating that the following women were being inducted along side of the Queen of Tejano:
  • Emma Carter Browning– She was a pilot, businesswoman and aviation pioneer
  • Susie Hitchcock-Hall– She was a Businesswoman, an entrepreneur and founder of Susie’s South Forty Confections, Inc., in Midland, Texas.

  • Ginger Kerrick (STEM- Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)– She is currently the division chief of the Flight Operations Directorate Integration Division at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
  • Dr. Renu Khator (Public Service) She is the chancellor of the University of Houston System and president of the University of Houston

The Governor had this to say about the inductees, “I am honored to welcome these five extraordinary women into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame. Whether in public service, the arts, business or education, these leaders have in spired generations of Texans to reach new heights, achieve new goals and elevate the Lone Star State. I would like to thank each of these honorees and their families for their enduring contributions to the State of Texas.”

Here is some of what the Governor’s news release had to say about Selena:
“Selena’s story transcends cultural differences and continues to inspire people around the world. She is remembered as an icon for her musical accomplishments as wall as for the joy that the memory of her charismatic personality continues to bring to her fans.”
The five women get officially inducted into the hall of fame at the Texas Women’s University of Denton on Oct. 21.
