HISD goes back to school on Monday!  Parents are happy and kids…well…not so much! Summer has almost come to and end!  Here are a few of my personal tips to get ya kids ready for back to school!

#3 ENCOURAGEMENT!

Lets make sure that we are telling our kids how smart they are and how well we KNOW they will do this year. This helps to  kick off the school year in a positive light!

#2 GET ORGANIZED!

It’s time to start planning!  Now I will admit that I have a small case of OCD so I am extremely organized BUT it doesn’t mean you cant use a few of these tips if you can’t do them all.  Meal prep!  Me and Alani get our lunches together on Sunday evening for the week.  She also has organizer bins in her closet so she can  lay out her uniforms for the whole week as well.  THIS SAVES TIME!!!!!! Even on the days that my daughter DOESN’T have homework, she has different learning activities everyday that are posted up on a little weekly calendar on the wall. This way she knows what needs to be done before she can play.

#1 GRATITUDE

Every morning before our prayer we post a word on our word wall.  One thing we are grateful for.  It is a known fact that GRATITUDE makes you feel happy!  Just an idea! Maybe you don’t need a word wall…maybe its just a convo.  Ask your son or daughter in the morning about one thing they are grateful for and be consistent.  It really makes a difference!
