On Monday, Michael Jordan,one the greatest of all-time weighed in on the recent shootings against Police and black males. Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan, who has long stayed out of tense, politically charged events, issued a statement to ESPN’s The Undefeated.

“As a proud American, a father who lost his own dad in a senseless act of violence, and a black man, I have been deeply troubled by the deaths of African-Americans at the hands of law enforcement and angered by the cowardly and hateful targeting and killing of police officers.” The former Chicago Bulls superstar added that he will make two $1 Million donations to groups dedicated toward improving relations between police and the community: the Institute for Community-Police Relations and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
