Versace - Runway - Milan Men's Fashion Week SS17

Versace Spring 2017 menswear collection pays tribute to a musical icon: Prince.

While watching the collection go down the runway, one cannot neglect to see the Purple One’s influence with distinctly ruffled blouses and skin-tight suits. Donatella Versace managed to utilize Prince as a muse to create garments that are simultaneously feminine and masculine and undoubtedly sexy.

Donatella went a step further and made the show extra special by paying tribute to the artist himself: the soundtrack of the fashion show played Prince classics and unreleased tracks.

A statement from the fashion brand said, “Donatella would like to use this special occasion as an opportunity to share this incredible music from a dear, and much missed friend,”

The fashion designer even wore a purple suit with an ostentatious, black-ruffled blouse to her Milan show.

The unreleased Prince tracks had many in the audience surprised. Donatella stated, “He sent me those songs five months ago. He sent me music all the time. People look for the vault – I am the vault!”

Will Versace add music to their repertoire and begin releasing Prince’s music? Who knows. However, for now, we will have to be satisfied by donning designs inspired by the beloved iconic singer.
