She is literally one of the greatest vocal performers of our time. Her career has blossomed, soared and exploded on the music scene for nearly three decades blazing a trail for almost every single one of today’s popular singers and entertainers. At a seasoned 48-years-old, the one and only Whitney Houston has performed for millions internationally, sold an unprecedented 180+ million records globally and is by far the most awarded female act of all time according to the Guinness Book of World Records. With 415 career awards as of 2010, Whitney Houston has set the bar extremely high for any other artist to even begin to achieve. Born on August 9, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey, Whitney Houston has given us a plethora of pop, R&B, dance, soul and gospel music since the day she was born. Having taken career forays and detours into modeling, acting and producing, there is literally nothing she can’t do. When it comes to singing, Whitney Houston is the epitome of vocal ability. With years of chart-topping singles, stellar albums and mega-star status, no one since has come close to her epic success.

We love you, we appreciate you, and we miss your voice dearly! May peace, love and blessings rain, rule and abide with you always.

Watch more of Whitney’s videos below in memory of one of the greatest vocalists ever.

I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY – 1987 Bursting onto the scene with vibrancy, high energy and vocal prowess unseen before her time, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” quickly became one of Whitney Houston’s signature hits and to this day is one of the strongest singles for the international superstar.

I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT – 1990 Produced by Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, this song found Whitney Houston taking a swift departure from her more pop singles in an effort to dispel the myth that she had “sold out” as an African American vocalist. The global pop star went for an urban appeal which soon became as equally successful as her earlier works.

I’M EVERY WOMAN – 1992 Taking a chapter from the book of legendary soul singers like Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston proved she could have one foot in the past and one foot stepping on toward the future. With her explosive remake of Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” (penned by singer/songwriter duo & soul music’s original lovebirds Ashford & Simpson), the song and it’s accompanying video brought women from every corner of the earth together once again. Check out cameo appearances from R&B trio TLC having tons of fun and a very pregnant Whitney Houston literally just glowing from the screen.

STEP BY STEP – 1996 Whitney Houston’s acting career continued to blossom just as her music did in the 1990s with a series of lead roles in Blockbuster films such as The Bodyguard (1992), Waiting to Exhale (1995) & The Preacher’s Wife (1996). Each one of the movies she became apart of allowed her yet another opportunity to create some beautiful music. With 1996’s “Step By Step,” Whitney Houston brought back her signature sound on the soundtrack to The Preacher’s Wife – a strong return to her gospel roots being that she was raised in the church.

HEARTBREAK HOTEL – 1998 Every real singer’s dream is to join their favorite vocalist in the studio, on stage and on an album track. For R&B divas in training (at that time) Faith Evans & Kelly Price in training, their one wish finally came true when Whitney Houston invited them to trade a few stellar riffs and runs on the hit “Heartbreak Hotel.” What’s better than one diva? Obviously, three! Their smooth R&B styles and distinct, power house vocals quickly turned this Soulshock & Karlin-produced urban ballad into a mega-hit for each of the leading ladies on the mic.
