HOUSTON, Feb. 1, 2016 – Educators from across the country converge Feb. 4-6 for an immersive learning experience with rocket scientists, astronauts and renowned educators at Space Center Houston’s 22nd Space Exploration Educators Conference
“We’re bringing teachers together in every discipline to learn about current and future missions NASA is preparing for deep-space exploration,” said Daniel Newmyer, director of education for the nonprofit. “Teachers will take home hands-on activities for students to get inspired about space. They also will learn how to get students engaged and connected to a possible future career.”

The three-day science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) focused conference is designed for all educators teaching kindergarten through 12th grades and not just for science teachers. The dynamic program includes education sessions presented by the innovative scientists and engineers working on the International Space Station and NASA’s deep space exploration missions. Attendees will receive a multitude of cross-curriculum ideas, ready-to-implement classroom activities and valuable networking opportunities with fellow educators, while earning up to 24 hours of continuing professional education credit.
Conference attendees will see history in the making and board-customized tours to NASA Johnson Space Center.  Attendees will see where astronauts train and learn about the science and research that is happening right now at the NASA center. Attendees will meet with leading vendors in education who offer helpful tools and resources to improve classrooms.
Using the latest classroom techniques, Space Center Houston’s Space Exploration Educators Conference brings exciting immersive activities to life in dynamic workshops, including “Bringing Weightlessness to Your Classroom” with easy techniques to demonstrate microgravity in a classroom environment; “The Road To Mars,” which incorporates five STEM-based activities which highlight NASA’s mission to Mars; “Get your Kids Coding!” which is a hands-on session about designing a computer program to build a robot; “Robotics on a Dime” gives teachers four robotics activity ideas developed on a budget; and “The Artist and the Engineer” brings visual art and science to life with creative STEM design challenges using 2D and 3D technology.
Dedicated to empowering educators with a multitude of cross-curriculum ideas and activities in space and science, SEEC provides educators with continuing education workshops and networking opportunities.
Late registration at $319 ends Feb. 4. To register, visit www.spacecenterseec.org or contact SEEC at SEEC@spacecenter.org, or +1 (281) 244-2149. For more information about Space Center Houston, visit www.spacecenter.org
