A Michigan restaurant owner is offering anyone who is alone on Thanksgiving a free meal for the day.
Restaurant owner of George’s Senate, George Dimopoulos said, “The reason I do this is because I was alone one time. I remember the good times and bad times.”
George is from Greece and when he was barely 12-years old, he moved by himself to Athens and at that age, he had to ask people for food to eat.
When he was 23, George came to the United States and somewhere down the line, he opened up his restaurant.

This isn’t a new tradition that George extends to people, but one day someone walked by and saw the sign in the window that read, “If anyone is home alone, come eat with us for free! All Day” and they took a pic and posted it online and it went viral from there.
George also said, “I don’t question people when they ask for food. If they are alone, I give it to them anyway. I can see the way they look. Not many people go out by themselves. My regular customers like what I do. It’s actually all-year-round if people ask. Eighty people came in for Easter this year both American and Greek Easter.”
The numbers of who comes in to eat and enjoy his all-you-can-eat buffet are… 59 in 2014, 84 in 2013 and this consisted of men and young adults between the ages of 18 and 25.
There is a Campaign to End Homelessness and with the 2015 homeless number in Detroit being 34,642, and it really helps that one guy willing to help that number, even if it’s just for 84 people.
