On August 14th Bloomingdales’ sent an e-mail addressed to their Loyalist Customers giving them high dollar credit rewards.
Receiving a reward from Bloomingdales isn’t something uncommon; actually, it’s something that they do for their customers who are a part of their loyalty program. It’s the credit amount that is the glitch… the amount of the credit that was given was a few THOUSAND dollars more than normal.
This generous glitch was applying $5,000-$10,000 in credit to customers, whereas, one lady said a loyalist customer may normally receive $25!

One man loyalist customer received a little more then what other loyal customers were receiving, he received $25,000 in credit instead.
The question amongst people is, what would you do? Some people joked and laugh saying it’s their’s now, but others say, it’s an obvious mistake, I wouldn’t touch it and than later have to pay it back.
I guess it depends on the person because the man that was given $25k spent that money.
He went to Bloomingdales and purchased his wife a pair of $10k diamond earrings, a nice $5k watch and a Louis Vuitton bag. The Store is asking for this man to return the items back and even offered him a $100 gift card for his honesty or be banned for life from the program if he didn’t, but so far, it’s not happening.
In a statement that Bloomingdales told NBC 4 New York, they said,
“A small subset of Bloomingdale’s Loyallist participants were accidentally issued rewards gift cards with amounts that were clearly incorrect,” a spokeswoman for the store said. “The company caught the mistake last week and is re-issuing replacement gift cards with correct amounts. The company is in contact with its customers and has apologized to those affected.”
The total amount the $25k credit that the man used was $17k in merchandise.
Some had credit of $5k and it wasn’t honored whereas, others had the credit and were able to use it.
So the question is, what would you do?
