Here’s a little bit about the author and her book!

Author/Film Writer Denisha Hardeman travels from Los Angeles to her hometown of Houston, Texas to unveil the release of her book 8 Lanes and the launch of her non-profit Un-hushed Foundation. Denisha is known for her work as an actress, screenwriter and author. Hardeman was introduced to the media world as an extra in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and from there went to star in Paula Jai Parker’s The White Sistas and several other television and film projects.

“8 Lanes” is a non-fiction book written by author, writer, producer, actress Denisha Hardeman. It is inspired by true events of Denisha’s life that happened in high school and early in college. Her first feature film, “8 Lanes” was inspired by the book and is now in pre-production. It is loosely based on her life in college where she endured abuse, sexual assault, depression, and suicidal tendencies. The story depicts her life while running track and field. She wrote 8 Lanes in order to help women and men who have experienced the same problems that she overcame. “Un-hushed” will empower women, men, and children, anyone open up and speak up about unpleasant stories that they may be afraid to share. During Denisha’s personal battle with domestic violence she directed her energy to track and field. The sport allowed her to hurdle the obstacles in her life as she did competitively on the field; running saved her life. Un-Hushed Foundation encourages others to find a hobby or to engage activities that will help them develop strengthening characteristics which could decrease the psychological problems or suicide.
