Rihanna is now the most successful artist in terms of single downloads and streams, according to new figures from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). According to the RIAA, Rihanna has accumulated more than 100 million gold and platinum song certifications, making her the only artist to ever break the 100 million singles award mark. The singer received 48 million new digital single certifications today, launching her to number one on the RIAA’s list of digital single awards, though Taylor Swift (88 million) and Katy Perry (78 million) are not far behind. The RIAA counts both downloads and streams in calculating its certifications.
