Today in Pearland, Texas, former MLB player Darryl Hamilton was killed in a murder-suicide.
The 50-year old was found Sunday on Father’s Day after he had been fatally shot inside his house. It was an apparent gunshot from a woman who has been identified as 44-year old Monica Jordan.
The former MLB player was shot several times before Jordan turned the gun on herself. The two have a 14-month old child who was discovered inside the house unharmed.

Hamilton played for five major league teams during his baseball career. His batting average was .291 in 1,328 games with Milwaukee (1988,1990-95), Texas (1996), San Francisco (1997-98), Colorado (1998-99) and the New York Mets (1999-2001).
He is known for the left-handed batting and the right arm throw that he did for a career fielding percentage of .995 with only 14 errors in 2,770 defensive chances.
“All of us at Major League Baseball are shocked and saddened by this tragedy,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said. “Darryl followed a successful 13-year career on the filed by assembling a multifaceted care in our game, working for MLB Advanced Media and in our Baseball Operations Department before moving on to MLB network.”
“He was a talented and personable individual, and we were proud to call him a member of the Baseball Family. On behalf of Major League Baseball, I extend my deepest sympathies to Darryl’s family and his friends throughout our game.”
The Pearland police responded to the home on Sunday afternoon after receiving a 911 call. Hamilton’s body was discovered near the home’s main entry way and the female’s today was discovered in another area of the house.
Autopsies are pending on both deceased.
