Kanye West

Besides not being able to see Kanye West during his performance at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, the other issue plaguing his performance was not being able to hear him either.

While performing the standout single “All Day,” Billboard took it upon themselves to bleep out the “Wolves” rapper’s performance in 30-second intervals, making it impossible to hear him rap the three-minute song.

Kanye’s rep released a statement addressing the overuse of censors during his performance.

“Kanye West was grossly over-censored at the Billboard Music Awards,” the rep wrote. “Non-profane lyrics such as ‘with my leather black jeans on’ were muted for over 30-second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented. It is ridiculous that in 2015, unwarranted censorship is something that artists still have to fight against. Although West was clearly set up to face elements beyond his control during the live broadcast, he would like to apologize to the television audience who were unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned.”

Kanye’s currently readying his highly anticipated album SWISH, which is scheduled to drop sometime this summer.
