After returning from a refreshing and awesome spring break vacation, a Black female student at Texas A&M Corpus Christi University was greeted by racial slurs and a drawing of a person being hanged inside of her dorm room. Some of the terrible things written included, “White Power. [We’re] coming for you” and “Die n–ger. Where is your protector? White Power.”

Students and staff of Texas A&M were shocked of the discovery and the Corpus Christi campus actually hosts a highly diverse student body, so where did this hate come from? And was the student a target?

Christi police have spoken out since and Floyd Simpson, their Police Chief, stated, “I think the community ought to be hurt by this. I think that we all ought to take it very seriously.” He added, “Quite frankly, we think we have a bead on some people who may be involved in this. The best thing they can do is come forward and have a discussion about this, and let us bring this to a logical conclusion.”

The student was smartly relocated to a new living space as investigators are on the hunt. One of their clues is that the culprits may not be students since they were gross misspellings in the insults (ha!), but either way, college educated or not, once found, they may be charged with burglary, criminal mischief and making terroristic threats.
