Auburn’s wide receive, Sammie Coates is making his way into the NFL with the support of his best bud Kenzie Ray.
Kenzie Ray is a little girl who captured Coates’ heart more than a year ago. Kenzie has been battling Leukemia since after a routine eye exam when her eye doctor saw something that he felt needed more testing.
It was after that at a game that Kenize and Coates met and ever since than, the two can’t be separated. Kenzie’s mom said that Coates makes it a point to text or face time her daughter daily and they even speak on the phone with each other.
Coates told them to put “Kenzie” on his cleats to keep her with him while he performed at the Combine.
Coates said before, “When I met Kenzie, I thought she was my role model because I look up to her and how strong she is and how she fights. That makes me fight harder. It makes me become a better person every day. It’s just a blessing to have her in my life.”
During Kenzie’s interview she was excited to talk about her friend Sammie Coates and she had some things to say for him… one was “stay strong and never give up.”
