(Woodbridge, CT)  —  A brewery in Connecticut is apologizing for the name and label of its most recent beer, Gandhi-Bot.  The apology from New England Brewing Co. follows a lawsuit filed in India, denouncing the brewery’s use of Mahatma Gandhi’s name to sell the beer.  The company said it did not intend to offend anyone, and that the name came from the beer’s style, an India Ale. The plaintiff said the name was nothing but an insult to Indians.  New England Brewing has not said whether it would withdraw or change the brand.
