During UFC’s 181 pay-per-view, the announcement was made that Dana White signed former WWE star CM Punk.
CM Punk or his birth name, Phil Brooks, said, “This is a my new career, 100 percent. I’m going to go full steam ahead, all systems go after today, and it’s going to be fun.”
President Dana White said that CM Punk is said to fight at middleweight which is 185 pounds, but that Punk will open up at 170.

UFC announced on Twitter that Punk is expected to make his octagon debut in 2015, but the exact 2015 date isn’t set, but maybe in six to seven months.
Dana White said “He wanted to fight here. He wanted to give it a shot, so we gave him an opportunity. It’s not like Brock Lesnar. We’re not going to throw the kitchen sink at him. Lesnar had a wrestling background. [CM Punk] is going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 — something like that.”
It was also said by the UFC head said that Punk has been training jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts.
To all those WWE Punk fans, CM Punk said, “My professional wrestling days are over, it’s awesome to be here. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
I felt like it was now or never. I have a limited window most fighters don’t have. I’m either here to win or get my a$$ kicked.”
The other former or current WWE wrestlers who have taken a try at UFC octagon fighting have been, Brock Lesnar, Dave Bautista and Bobby Lashley.
Lesnar’s record was 5-3, Bautista 1-0 and Lashley 12-2.
Some UFC stars took to Twitter with their reaction to the Punk’s new signing, Ronda Rousey was excited and Nat Diaz… not so much.
