This story hits close to home. Literally. My daughter Parker started Pre K last year. Everyday I ask her how was her day, what did she learn, etc… As a father, that’s the highlight of my day. From time to time I would hear her talk about her classmate Christian not being in class. Of course you don’t really understand everything that’s going on, so we nod & keep the conversation moving along.
But then I found out the real story. Her classmate Christian Evans has lymphoblastic leukemia. (A cancer of the white blood cells). As a parent, I couldn’t imagine my child dealing with this at such a young age. Then I started thinking how if it doesn’t personally affect us, we are so numb to others in need. I didn’t want to be that person. I mean, I had just met so many cancer survivors at the Susan G Komen walk & that got me thinking. What if YOU could help a kid in need?
You can help a kid in need. The family has been trying to raise $5,000 and we are going to help. That’s the thing I love about our city. We pull together in times of need to uplift each other. I finally had a chance to talk with Christian’s mom today! There is a walk going on this Sunday, & you guys can go show your love & support! I think along with the platform I have, comes responsibility. I have to serve the community & that’s the best part of my job!
