(HOUSTON) — If your taste in books is cutting edge, you will want to head to Brazos Bookstore and the celebration of banned books.

Every year, Brazos Books celebrates novels that would have gotten the Fahrenheit 451 treatment in another era.

The staff has put together a reading list that includes: “Catcher in the Rye,” “Siddhartha,” “Song of Solomon,” and “Lady Chatterley’s Lover,” among other controversial works.

The celebration continues all this week and works up to the “Read Dangerously” party this Saturday when Workhorse Printmakers/Spindle Top Design creates limited-edition posters celebrating banned books on an on-site letterpress.

Show up hungry. The bookstore will be serving Saint Arnold beer and Houston Dairy Maids cheese along with some ideas for scandalous reading.

The party starts at 2 p.m. Saturday. Brazos Bookstore is located at 2421 Bissonnet.
