Operation Backpack(PEARLAND, TX) – Memorial Hermann Hospital is teaming up with the YMCA to provide school supplies for children in need.

The hospital is partnering with the Vic Coppinger Family YMCA in support of Operation Backpack.

Operation Backpack is an initiative aimed at providing children in need the school supplies they need to start school.

Both Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital and Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center will serve as Operation Backpack drop-off locations.

Anyone interested in donating can purchase a new backpack and school supplies and deliver them to the drop-off locations through August 11.

Members of the community are also encouraged to donate during “Stuff the Bus” days at each location.

The YMCA bus will be at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital at 11800 Astoria Boulevard on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The bus will be at the Convenient Care Center at 16100 South Freeway on July 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Last year, Operation Backpack generated more than 1,100 backpacks and 21,000 school supplies for the Pearland Independent School District.  The supplies were used throughout the year by children in kindergarten through 12th grade.
