The Houston SPCA found the cats Thursday when they responded to a tip call about an animal hoarding situation at the house.

HSPCA spokesperson Meera Nandlal said it was a horrific situation for the animals. She said they were emaciated and had ocular and nasal discharge. There was also some hair loss. At least one cat was dead and decomposing, she said.
Twin sisters lived in the home. Nandlal described the house as having a strong odor of ammonia, and feces was piled as high as four feet in some places.
