nas-resizedLife still very good for legendary rapper Nas. After celebrating the 20th anniversary of his landmark debut album “Illmatic,” it was announced Nas would be working with video game power player XBox to develop a series loosely based on his life.

According to Deadline, Nas and XBox are working together to bring the half hour show titled “Street Dreams” to game consoles everywhere. The project will center around a young rapper from the Queensbridge projects trying to get himself a record deal in the early 90s. “Street Dreams” will not only show the peaks and valleys of becoming a popular rap artist, but also focus on his relationships with his family members and his music.

The show is being written and directed by Jonathan Levine, who received critical acclaim for his 2008 film “The Wackness.” That film was a coming of age story set against early 90s New York and Hip-Hop was the music of choice for the main characters. While many know Nas will be contributing music to the show’s soundtrack, he will also be contributing to the script as Nas will be doing some co-writing.

Although XBox and Nas are developing the series, there is no actual timetable as to when the show will premiere.
