I spend an absurd amount of time searching for all things Fresh around H-town, anything from festivals to dope food truck sandwiches, I’m all over it.
I bumped into a painting yesterday that stopped me dead in my tracks, from a lovely H-Town Native, Ms. Kendra Kyrie.
After doing a little digging, I had the chance to speak with her yesterday, check out the interview and a gallery of some of her work below.

how long does it typically take you to do a piece?
Kendra Kyrie
Just a night…
I usually will start and not stop… lol you cant let go of inspiration when it is there.

Just a night? it takes me two days to decide what i’m going to wear to work, that’s incredible.
From where do you draw your inspiration?
Kendra Kyrie
Ha ha thank you. I draw it from everything… My friends. My family. Nature. Feelings.
Music. Relationships.

How did you develop your style, and can you describe it?
Kendra Kyrie
I developed my style by painting my favorite paintings lol. I started by Picasso then Van Gogh then I discovered Basquiat… I knew I loved colors and the boldness of how they can change a mood…. and honestly just practice and patience… And it happened. I still think I am developing my style lol…
And Iwould describe my style as abstract/contemporary.. Ha ha it’s a Kendra style lol
People or critics have often told me it looks like I need to stick to a style, but that is the thing, My personality is pretty out there, and in a crazy world of chaos I feel no need to paint paintings that make sense to just anyone, lol.

That’s wonderful. I hope you never lose that perspective.
