Kendrick Lamar wins the award for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, his second award of the evening.

“All Glory to God, you believe in God, right?” he quips. “Ten years in the making, baby! Most importantly, to all my home boys and home girls back in the city. I came up in that same building… food stamps… they call us the minority, the black and brown, black and Latino,  but if you keep love, God and hard work in your life, you can do anything you want.”

Miguel performs “How Many Drinks” adorned in silver chains and a leather jacket with black fur.  K. Dot joins Miguel on stage and adds more energy to the performance. Miguel doesn’t quite jump over the audience, but he might have caused some of us to clench up when he did a stage slide towards the camera before the end of the performance.

Nicki Minaj wins the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist! She gets to the stage in a gorgeous black dress! Showing some sexy leg tonight! Her platinum blonde hair is amazing.

“Every time I win, it’s a humbling experience, because my fans are such amazing people,” she said. “They are not amazing fans, they are amazing people!”

Scandal star Columbus Short honors Joshua Williams and Diana Latiker for their leadership work in the black community.

Updated 8:20 p.m. Real Husbands of Hollywood come on stage, and Kevin Hart does what he does best and steals the show! “Turn up, man! Turn up! I’m addicted to success, baby!” Nicki Minaj pointed out, looks gorgeous in blonde hair and a fairly conservative dress tonight. After a lot of Kevin Hart, the award for Best Actor is presented. And the winner is… Jamie Foxx, who proceeds to do a dance with Kevin Hart on stage! He even offers to do a movie with the comedian. Turn up, baby!  Jamie Foxx is seen on stage wearing a Trayvon Martin black-and-white t-shirt.

Updated 8:14 p.m. Goodness gracious! Mariah Carey performs with Miguel on their amazing collab, “Beautiful,” and instantly become one of the most memorable parts of 2013 BET Awards. Mariah Carey is adorn in a very gorgeous sparkling white dress, amid a cascading backdrop of chandeliers and shimmering gold light. Miguel, meanwhile, learns to sit on the stage and not jump over audience members tonight. A simply gorgeous scene at the Staples Center tonight!

Updated 8:07 p.m. Gabrielle Douglas takes the award for Subway Sportswoman of the Year, while the Subway Sportsman of the Year goes to Miami Heat MVP LeBron James.

Updated 8:05 p.m. Lala Anthony and Meagan Good present the award for Best Gospel Artist. And the award goes to… Mary Mary! They were not able to attend the awards, so the statue was collected on their behalf.

Updated 8:01 p.m. The R.Kelly performance is as colorful and theatrical as the artist as a chorus line comes out and presents a collection of his most popular songs. And then, the man himself comes out in this jacket and hat studded with gold spikes! He commands the stage as well as he ever has. His performance of “Bump N’ Grind” and “Ignition” brings the audience to their feet!

Updated 7:46 p.m. Chris Tucker tells as story about Michael Jackson singing 50 Cent in the car, and how much he liked the “noise Rick Ross makes.” LOL! R.I.P. MJ! The comedian then breaks into a rendition of “Human Nature.” I wish he hadn’t…

Updated 7:38 p.m. Wayne Brady presents the award for Young Stars. The award goes to Olympics superstar Gabrielle Douglas, who said “Thank you everyone for embracing me after the Olympics,” she said. She wears a gorgeous black and white gown and is showing a whole lotta leg tonight! #gorgeous. And now, we find where K. Dot was all along! Kendrick Lamar comes out and begins to perform “m.A.A.d City.” But, big surprise, here comes Erykah Badu bringing it in an amazing performance of “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” alongside some sexy saxophone!

Updated 7:28 p.m. Actors Angela Bassett and Gabrielle Union take the stage to talk “Black Nativity” and “Being Mary Jane,” before presenting the award for Best New Artist. The award goes to Kendrick Lamar, who mysteriously fails to appear on stage, despite seeing him cheesing during the opening monologue! WHERE IS KENDRICK??

Updated 7:25 p.m. Artist Robin Thicke and Pharrell take the stage to perform “Blurred Lines,” and kill it!

Updated 7:15 p.m. Actor Don Cheadle offers a prayer for Nelson Mandela and family, before presenting the award for Best Male R&B/POP Artist. And the winner is Miguel. “For anyone out there, stick to your guns,” he said. “Do what you believe in.”

Host Chris Tucker takes a dig at Miguel in the opening monologue by claiming there will be no jumping over audience members during the course of the 2013 BET Awards. Camera pans to Miguel, who is a seemingly good sport as he laughs, even in spite of a potential lawsuit.

He also warns stars to pay their taxes. “That’s the last time I get advice from Wesley Snipes!” he quipped.
