Okay so all you iphone users who were throwing fits can relax now as word is swirling around the internets that Billboard Magazine is apparently not going to support this Samsung/Jay-z marketing campaign…well sort of. According to Billboard, they are not going to include the 1 million album downloads Jay-Z is giving to Galaxy mobile phone users through a deal with Samsung.

Per Jay-Z’s announcement earlier this week; his new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” will be released to the masses on  July 7, 2013 but will be exclusively available for 1 million Samsung users on July 4, 2013 as a little gift for a current Samsung campaign.

However, in a letter posted on Billboard’s website, Bill Werde the editorial director says, Billboard won’t count the downloads because Samsung ultimately isn’t selling the album on its phones. Werde admitted it wasn’t easy turning down Jay-Z’s request to include the downloads on the Billboard chart.

Said Werde:

“The passionate and articulate argument by Jay’s team that something was for sale and Samsung bought it … doesn’t mesh with precedent.”

In a word…ouch! We sure hope we don’t look up and see that Mr. Z has purchased Billboard Magazine anytime soon! Don’t shake your heads at us..stranger things have happened!
