It’s been the stuff of sci-fi movies and futuristic mythology forever, but a Massachusetts company says it is now just two years away from unveiling the world’s first flying car.

The Terragugia TF-X drives like a car on the group and takes off similar to helicopter, USA Today reports. While drivers will need to find a little clear space to take off, the possibilities will open–to those with the cash–in 2015.

The TF-X uses technology similar to that of the Marines’ V-22 Osprey as it lifts off vertically using propellers.

“We felt this was our time to share our vision of the future,” says Richard Gersh, vice president of business development for Terrafugia, based in Woburn, Mass. Though the new flying car design isn’t likely to take off for another decade, “if you don’t start today, it won’t happen.”

The price tag is still pretty steep at $279,000, but what lady won’t be willing to go for a ride in a flying car?!
