It seems like the full moon and all the police lights pulled the alleged drunk drivers out of hiding Friday night and Saturday morning. Just as deputies were clearing a car that had crashed into a tree on Interstate 45 at Lake Woodlands, Deputy Knight had just stopped a driver on the northbound side of the freeway who was wanted in connection with assaulting his 15-year-old daughter by dragging her down the stairs by her hair. When he was stopped he was suspected of being intoxicated, according to officials.

As Deputy Knight filled out a wrecker slip for the driver, another male driver approached the scene on the northbound feeder at Oakwood. That driver failed to move out of the lane and slammed into the rear of the deputy’s patrol car. The patrol car overhead lights were working. The vehicle then deflected off the left rear of the patrol car almost striking the deputy who was about to get in.

That driver was detained and after a field sobriety test was place under arrest. As DPS Troopers worked the accident a female driver drove up into the scene that was being blocked by wreckers and police. She too had a field sobriety test which she failed.

As this was happening another male drove up into the scene on the left lane almost striking the officers on the scene. He too failed a field sobriety test and was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
