Halle Berry has decided to hold off on her much-wanted move to France until her daughter turns 18.

For the past few years, the actress has been in a bitter custody battle with Gabriel Aubry, ex-boyfriend and father of her 5-year-old daughter Nahla. While the actress would like to start a new life in Europe with her fiancé Olivier Martinez, Aubry has contested Berry’s plans of moving their daughter across the country.

Now, the 46-year-old has switched gears and has decided to remain in the US until her daughter is old enough to make her own decision.

”It probably won’t be until my daughter is 18 and off to college,” Berry said in a recent interview. “When Nahla turns 18, she’ll be legally able to make her own decisions about where she wants to be and I think that then, when she’s off on her own, we’ll move there. It’s where I want to end my days, that’s for sure.”

Since she’s put her dream on hold, the actress said her fiancé also suggested she hold off on learning the new language.

“I was told very lovingly by him not to work on it too hard now but to wait until we get to live there,” she said. “He thinks I’ll have an easier time when we’re living there and immersed in the culture – if we ever get to go that is.”
