Get ready Celtics fans because Mr. Allen is coming to Boston. If Ray Allen thought the reception he got from former teammates Kevin Garnett (on live television) and Paul Pierce was frosty, imagine what he will hear on Sunday afternoon (1/27) from over 16,000 people who feel betrayed by Allen’s defection to arch rival Miami, for less money than what Boston offered him to stay.

No one cares that Ray allegedly could not get along with All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo or that he felt slighted by Coach Doc Rivers for not returning him to the starting lineup when his ankle was healthy, they will just see the road jersey emblazoned with “Miami” on the front and see blood.

Ever the class act Allen thought about his time in Beantown and the impact his return as a former player will have. “I’ll savor it, going back and seeing the people you spent so much time with,” Allen said. “But if you’re going into a situation thinking about negative perceptions or behavior that’s unbecoming of good sportsmanship, then you just want to get it over with, win the game and get out of there. I don’t want it to distract these guys from everybody doing their job and being ready to play.”
