It’s a sad day for Avery Johnson. The NBA coach Avery Johnson has received his walking papers from the Brooklyn Nets organization.
The Nets’ general manager Billy King announced Johnson’s firing early Thursday. Although Johnson had the Brooklyn Nets looking good when they first began the season, things have taken a turn for the worse. The basketball team had a record of 11-4 during the months of October and November. However, the team has only won three of the past 13 games in December. Johnson was in his final year of his contract and instead of re-signing him, the organization decided to look down other avenues for coaching.
It’s rumored the Nets have reached out to Phil Jackson for a possible coaching job after he was passed over for the coaching position with the Lakers. An official offer hasn’t been made to Jackson, but sources say Jackson would entertain the offer if approached.
For the time being, P.J. Carlesimo will be the acting coach until a permanent one can be determined.
