Former NBA player turned business mogul Magic Johnson is trying his damnedest to top himself. After purchasing the Los Angeles Dodgers, Johnson has set his sights on an African-American entertainment institution.

Magic Johnson has purchased “Soul Train” and plans on bringing it back to television. Another thing Johnson will be developing out of the “Soul Train” brand is a biopic of Don Cornelius‘ life. When he appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show”, Magic Johnson revealed preliminary details about his plans for the series and film.

Johnson told Williams, “We’re talking about a movie of Don Cornelius, a movie of his life. He did a wonderful job of introducing us all to “Soul Train.”

Many are concerned the format of ‘Soul Train’ won’t fit into today’s television landscape. Magic Johnson isn’t so sure himself, but he plans on taking a risk because of the brand’s legacy. “Can we bring it back to TV? Because most of us, or our parents, learned how to dance from watching ‘Soul Train.’ It’s a great brand.”

What do you think Magic Johnson should do with the “Soul Train” brand? Will a revival of “Soul Train” be something you’d watch?
