It happened around 10:30 am today (Wednesday) at the Wilkins Jewelry Store on Wilson Road and North Frazier. While looking at jewelry, the female suspect grabbed the owner Shirley Wilkins and one of the men jumped the counter with a gun. The other man attacked the owner’s son Mitch from behind and they fought on the floor. Two shots were fired. The suspects fled the store on foot. An employee of a neighboring business chased and captured the female suspect. One of the men was found by a bloodhound a short distance away in a wooded area. The other man is still on the loose.
Police are looking at surveillance video to see if another person may have been involved. Owner Mitch Wilkins was taken to Conroe Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
