Denzel Washington is Hollywood’s “fine wine” that get’s better with age! The Oscar winning actor sat down with GQ Magazine for an exclusive that everyone who has a dream should read.

Washington spoke candidly about his fondest acting memory along with his relationship with his estranged father who also was a pastor that kicked him out at 18. Two years after that, Denzel discovered his passion was acting. After his father died in ’91, Denzel recalls being at his father’s funeral and he couldn’t even shed a tear:

I never shed a tear for my father. That sounds like a book or a song. I never did all through the funeral and all that. There was no connection.

He talks more about his daughter’s new acting career in Django Unchained with Jamie Foxx, getting filled with the Holy Ghost and losing Whitney Houston but most importantly, Denzel concludes about how important it is for fathers to be in their children’s lives.

One of the things that saddens me the most about my people is fathers that don’t take care of their sons and daughters. And you can’t blame that on The Man or getting frisked. Take responsibility. But take responsibility.
